Adults interested in careful, respectful community-service work may apply. Veteran, nonprofit, ministry, social-service, research, technology, and administrative experience can all be useful, but no single background is required.

Volunteers help research services, verify public information, improve descriptions, support outreach, assist with technology, and contribute administrative or ministry experience.
General expectations
Volunteers protect confidential information, use access only for authorized work, document sources carefully, communicate reliably, and follow privacy and acceptable-use rules.
Application and approval
Submitting an application does not create an account or guarantee a role. Authorized reviewers evaluate applications, and approved applicants receive a separate secure, expiring invitation before portal access is created.
Experience information - not a background investigation
This form asks only about experience you choose to share. It does not conduct or imply a criminal, credit, employment, formal background, or other background check.
How we use and retain application information
We use the information only to evaluate volunteer interest, contact applicants, administer an approved relationship, prevent duplicate applications, and protect the service from abuse. We do not sell applicant information.
- Unsubmitted drafts are scheduled for deletion 30 days after the last activity.
- Withdrawn or non-approved applications are retained for up to 12 months after the final outcome.
- Approved applications are retained during the active relationship and for up to 24 months after deactivation.
- Limited security and audit records are retained for up to 24 months.
Only authorized administrators and approved volunteer managers may review applications. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, passwords, medical records, financial account information, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal information.

What happens next
After submission, CVF sends one 48-hour ownership-verification link to the application email. The application remains Email Verification Pending until that link is completed. Verification does not approve the application, create an account, or create an assignment.
